Very big country from South America, Argentina is our first stop around the world.

Country: Argentina / Capital: Buenos Aires

Language: Spanish

Currency: Argentine Pesos

Ushuaia is our second stop around the world. We took the sailboat for a month to go to the Beagle Channel and we will return in 2021 to go to Antarctica. It is a very touristy city from where the cruise passengers leave but also the biggest city of the south of Patagonia and good stage for hiking.

The ballad is 20 minutes from the city center after Rio Oliva if I understood correctly.

The road is beautiful! The mountains are impressive and colorful.

The hike will take us to laguna Esmeralda in 1h30 with passages in the forest. On the road we meet a little fox not shy at all.

The hike is not difficult and we take full eyes.

Bring a coat, water and rain pants.

If you want to take a tour of Antarctica or the Beagle Channel, or even my ascent to Puerto Montt, go to the captains of the sailboats on the harbor.

Here are some boats names: Esprit d’Equipe, Nautica, Peau d’Orange.

There are a lot of hikes to be done near Ushuaia in the national park.

You can take a taxi from town: costs 700 ARS return and takes about 30min.

Once there you have to pay the entrance fees: 490 ARS.

There are several coming there but with no shower and toilets. There is a cafeteria serving quite good food, with also toilets.

We did the hikes 3 and 6. There are beautiful and easy (unless you carry 20 kilos on your baks like us…).

The city is small but there are many taxis and some buses.

There are many buses to Argentina and Chile as well as to go hiking outside the city.

To go to Tierra del Fuego National Park: 700 ARS round trip per person.

To go to Punta Arenas (Chile): 1700 ARS one way per person. Count 10-11h of bus; departures are at 7am.

We booked via airbnb this place:

They also have a small apartment we rent later:

Very nice hosts, clean apartment and room. Perfect stays!

It is quite expensive because very touristy but you can eat for ten euros.

Banks take a lot of money so think about withdrawing big money or taking dollars or euros.

All good.

There are many banks, but the fees are important.

There are also shops that change (ask local addresses).
